The BIOTA is a Mini-based open-top two-seater sports car built by Houghton Coldwell Ltd between 1968 & 1974.
25 Mk1s were produced between 1968 & 1972, followed by 6 Mk2s from 1972 to 1974.
HISTORY

The Biota was the creation of John Houghton in the late 1960s. John ensured that the Biota was a credible Mini based road going sports car, which also had much competitive hillclimb success.
CONSTRUCTION

The base of the Biota is the spaceframe chassis to which the Mini front subframe attached along with the rear suspension. The body consists of fibreglass panels including a distinctive roll over hoop.
PRODUCTION LIST

Around 30 cars were made during its life with a Mk2 also being produced with improved rear end suspension and some body modifications.
